You’ve never done this before, right? Talk to your photographer to help plan a detailed timeline for the day! They have done this many times and will know how long each part of the day takes (putting on your dress, first look, bridal party, family formals, etc.) and how to lay it out. Also- put extra time into the day for buffers because often times, things take longer than expected! 10 minutes here and there with nothing planned is always a good idea! That way- when you’re ahead of schedule, your stress as a bride will melt away. I work closely with all of my brides to create the perfect timeline for their wedding day!
2. Getting ready location
Doing hair and makeup and getting dressed in one location is always a good idea! This way, you don’t have to account for travel time and physically moving between locations. And heaven forbid if you forget something somewhere and have to run back for it!! So getting ready in one spot, having your hair and makeup artist come to you saves you so much stress as a bride!! This way, your photographer can come to your single getting ready location as well and grab periodic pictures of you and your girls getting ready all while photographing your details (dress, rings, invitation, flowers, shoes, veil, jewelry, etc.)! Having an easy going morning with your favorite girls and sipping on mimosas is always a great stress free way to start your wedding day.
3. Plan ahead
Don’t leave anything for the day of. This should be YOUR day to celebrate and relax and enjoy yourself. Finalize your seating chart, songs, payments, who’s bringing what during the days leading up to the wedding. That way when the day arrives, you have nothing to worry about other than marrying your best friend!! It’s also good to designate someone to make those decisions/finalize any unexpected details for you on the day of your wedding so you don’t have to worry, maybe it’s your personal attendant? Or a trusted Aunt?
4. Live in the moment and HAVE FUN!
The planning is done, the money is paid, it’s time to celebrate!!!! Take the day as it comes, trust your vendors. You hired them for a reason, right?? They are professionals and will do their best to make your day run smoothly- even if they have to improvise when things don’t go as planned. Don’t let little things that don’t go as planned stress you out- it’s the happiest day of your life!!
