So if you don’t already know, I went on my first photographers journey over the weekend and it was ABSOLUTELY fantastic! I attended my very first workshop, the Hope Taylor Photography Senior Workshop in Fredricksburg, VA.
WHY I went:
1-Hope is a photographer that I’ve admired for awhile. Her business is SO successful and I truly admire the way she runs it.
2-Her work is to die for! I wanted to really be in her presence to soak up as much knowledge and technique as I could.
3-Hope is a Shoot and Share photographer which is also what my business is modeled after + she wholeheartedly believes in the core value of the Rising Tide Society which is Community Over Competition. She believes in helping other creatives in our industry succeed instead of competing with them which I Love.
4-She models her business around loving + serving her girls! She has this amazing buzz going about her business because of the way she structures her sessions around an experience rather than just a session. and let me tell you, it’s SO inspiring! She genuinely gets to know her seniors and loves them and serves them!
4-I wanted to meet other creatives in my industry from around the country, and that I did! We literally somehow felt like a big group of best friends right from the get go and I’m so honored to have met them. They are a GREAT + TALENTED group of girls from 9 different states and I can’t wait to continue to cheer them on in their businesses and help them grow in any way that I can.
WHAT we did:
We met Sunday night in her studio for a meet and greet with all of the workshop attendees for a spring dessert bar and getting to know each other before the big day!
Monday morning we were back at the studio for the beginning of the workshop! Hope had the cutest little sprinkled donuts for us. Then we dove right into it! She went over every aspect of her business in detail of how she does things, and I mean EVERY detail. It was amazing. Everything from initial email inquiries all the way to delivering the final product.
Then we had the cutest little lunch that her mamma brought which included homemade mac and cheese…DELISH!
After lunch we headed to the HIGHLY anticipated styled shoot!! It was designed by wonderfully talented Kat of Dear Sweetheart Events. Here we were able to take pictures of the beautiful stations while Hope helped us with posing, lighting, camera settings, and really just how to treat your clients so they feel amazing. It was more than I could have asked for. And the venue was breathtaking, let’s just say it’s a national historic landmark. So the pictures are bound to be gorgeous!
Was it WORTH it?:
ABSOLUTELY! Hope didn’t fall short of my expectation of her. She exceeded everything I could have hoped to learn. She’s an amazing photographer + an amazing business owner + amazing woman in general. She inspired me and taught me SO much in just 1 day, I’ll be forever grateful. I can’t wait to implement what I’ve learned into my business! Hope, you’re a rockstar, I’m cheering you on girl now more than ever.
For now, I’ll leave you with some behind the scenes iPhone pictures of the adventure with a sneak peek of the styled shoot at the very end! I’m telling you guys, these pictures from the styled shoot are my BEST work yet!
All the photos from the styled shoot will be on the blog soon so stay tuned! You guys are going to love this.
